    error -1101

Just a quick follow up. After repeated RetroISAScans deleting (it seemed every other day I would start getting the same error) I decided to check my Server settings on this particular shared drive. Turns out the Group permissions for that drive had the permissions set to Other. I changed the permissions to Read and Wright as I thought they were, propagated the new setting to the drive and the problem has not occurred again. So there ya go, like usual...my fault.

The fix... Agent Response: This will happen if the RetroISA scan files are out of date for some reason. You can try to delete the scan files and see if that helps resolve the issue: 1) Stop the RetroISA process from the terminal utility: sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.retrospect.retroisa.plist 2) Go to Library/Application Support/Retrospect and delete the RetroISAScans folder 3) Start the RetroISA process again in the terminal utility with this command: sudo launchctl load /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.retrospect.retroisa.plist

You're confusing me a bit. Shouldn't I have a directory call Art in the Volumes? It is one of the drives on this computer. Anyway here is what is listed from the Volumes on my Server and Art is listed there, but I would think it should be. error -1101

Art is the name of one of the internal Hard-drives in the Server. There is much more in the Art Volume and it is all backing up fine. It appears to me to be just this one directory (44647_QuakerbridgeInsightFall2012) that was deleted last Thursday that Retrospect still seems to think is there, but can't backup because in actuality the directory was deleted. There are more errors in the log, but they are all and only related to this one directory.
  5. I'm getting a error -1101 for files that are no longer on a drive being backed up. It only makes since that I would get this error as the files where deleted, however I'm not sure why Retrospect is looking for the files in the first place??? This system has been rebooted since I started receiving this error and the script re-ran, but I'm still receiving the error. Running Retrospect v10 on a Mac Running 10.6.8 Server. I'm only receiving this error for this particular directory (44647_Quaker....). How do I stop this error? error 102

I've been backing up to a Drobo with Thorough verification on. Today I actually go to pull a file and I get a error 102. Can anyone tell if this is a hardware error of something with software? Compare taking forever

One last followup. After working with Data Robotics it was recognized that a Patch needed to be installed. The Drobo unit is connected to the server via FW800, but oddly needed a "Mac_SCSI_Driver_Patch" that was supplied to me from Data Robotics. After the install of this patch the backups are now working correctly again. Here is what I was told by Data Robotics just as a FYI: "HI I am xxxxxx, a tier 2 rep here at Drobo. I am attaching a firewire patch for your machine. Apple has some outstanding firewire issues with some of the Intel computers they manufactured before 2011. Please download and unzip the patch attached to this email then install it."

Ok. It appears you're correct. I've been using a Drobo (Gen-2) for Retrospect to backup to. I switched to another drive and everything worked fine. Odd that the Drobo is controlled by it's own software and not showing any issues. Guess it's time to contact Data Robotics and ask them what the dealy-o is... I'll keep updates posted as to what is going on just so everyone who is interested stays in the know. -George

More info on this issue. Like I said everything backups and when the compare starts I get these errors. There are many more, I just copied the first few. 11. System: OSX 10.6.8 Server Processor: 2x2.66 GHz Dual-Core Xeon Ram: 6GB Software: Retrospect 8.2 System has been unchanged since it was updated to 10.6.8. The only additional software that is on this system is FileMaker Pro v12. Currently backing up 389GB from a Local disk (1TB) connect via firewire to a Drobo connected via Firewire (separate ports). This system has been running fine and I have no errors in the hardware. Retrospect went thru the initial backup at a normal rate then when it got to the Comparing function it is crawling along very slowly. It has now been running this one backup for over 25.5hrs. I noticed this issue yesterday and created a new Media Set and script when I started this current backup. Any ideas or has anybody else seen this problem?
  12. Many tks to thee of great knowledge. That worked. George
  13. I've got Retrospect 6.1.230 Running on OSX Server 10.4.11. I've got several network drives mounted on the desktop that are backed up nightly. There is also one drive in the server itself that is included in this script. The problem I'm having is every time the script gets to the local internal hard-drive it just seems to quit. The log says it is copying from the local drive. I have to launch Retrospect to see this information as it is no longer running. In the below log you can see that Retrospect backs-up two of the drives, but when it gets to the local HD (WIP) it just seems to quit and leaves a entry into the log that it is copying. ∆ Retrospect version 6.1.230 launched at 10/30/2008 7:11 AM + Retrospect Driver Update, version 6.1.15.101 + Normal backup using DailyBkUp at 10/30/2008 7:11 AM To backup set Daily Backup… - 10/30/2008 7:11:55 AM: Copying Templates on AraxiPreps… 10/30/2008 7:15:15 AM: Execution completed successfully.
