  1. All mailboxes get listed in the "Preview" section of the Immediate Backup windows. Thanks for your help!
  2. I just read the user guide about the M: drive. Thanks for pointing me to it. I still have a question. In the Volumes Database my exchange server shows the following: +Exchange Local Disk(C:) Mailboxes(M:) Transaction Logs(T:) +Exchange Server First Storage Group Second Storage Group +Exchange Mailboxes So if I select Exchange as Source of an Immediate or scripted backup, I understand that it does not backup M:, but does it backup the "Exchange Mailboxes" and other things without my having explicitly having picked them? Thanks
  3. Hi I have a script that is supposed to run once a week and do a full backup of Exchange. It has not been successful even once though if I run a manual backup of Exchange, that works just fine. Retrospect Server 7.5.508 Retrospect Client on Exchange Server 2007 7.5.116 I couldn't backup Exchange 2007 with the newer 7.6 version so had to go back to 7.5 I see a lot of these in the Operations Log right after the listing of all the mailboxes that have been found on the server to backup: TPCVol::Set: not a drive letter nor UNC name After that it looks like it backs up the C:\ drive on the Exchange Server just fine but when it gets to the Mailboxes, I get the following: 9/10/2008 11:18:50 PM: Copying Mailboxes (M:) on exchange Followed by tons of these: vlocRDiskDoFileCreate: device number = 0xffffffff After that it looks like its backing up the individual mailboxes but I finally get the error -1004. Could someone please help me figure out what is going on and how to fix it. Thanks
  4. I'm using Retrospect 7.5.508 and Driver/hotfix 7.5.14.102 with 7.5.116 and everytime I try to backup a server that has a few virtual machines on it (using vmware or virtual server), I get this: Trouble reading files, error -557 (transaction already complete). Sometimes the error code is 523. What does this mean? How can I fix this? Thanks
  5. I get the same exact answer as I did for Get-MailboxDatabase which is in my previous response above. fyi: I'll be on vacation for 10 days starting July 25 and with little or no internet access, my responses will be slow to come. Thanks
  6. Mayoff: Sorry for not having responded sooner. Running Get-MailboxDatabase gives me: Name: Mailbox Database Server: name of our exchange server, the one I'm trying to connect to and backup. StorageGroup: First Storage Group
  7. Update: A bug has been created for this problem.
  8. Just wanted to add that everything works well with Retrospect version 7.5.508
  9. Hi: Thanks for that URL. I went ahead and gave the retrospect backup user "send-as" and "receive-as" rights on the entire mailbox database. I still get the "authentication failed" error. However the long list of errors has gone down a bit and now I see this in my operation log: T-2: TMapiManager::Reinitialize: Creating new MAPI session. T-2: TWDBExchangeServer2007::LoadBridge loaded ex2k7bridge.dll T-2: TMapiConnection::InitializeMailboxes: ExGetDistinguishedName failed. T-2: TMapiManager::Reinitialize: couldn't intialize mailboxes due to a prior error. Could you tell me what exact permissions you added with the Add-ADPermissions cmdlet? This is what I ran on the powershell: add-adpermission -id "Mailbox Database" -user \rbu -extendedrights "send-as" add-adpermission -id "Mailbox Database" -user \rbu -extendedrights "receive-as" Thanks for all your help
  10. Hi: I'm trying to backup exchange 2007 mailboxes. When I try to "login as" the rbu account, I get an authentication failed error. The rbu account is member of 'backup operators, domain admins and domain users' and I've sent an email to initialize its mailbox. I can login to a test system as rbu and open outlook to check the test email I sent to the rbu account to initialize the mailbox. I don't see an MAPI/authentication errors on the exchange server. I have recreated the rbu account to make sure my login/pwd are correct. I would really appreciate any help on getting this going. I get the following errors in the operations_log.utx file OS: Windows Server 2003 SP2 Retrospect 7.6.111 T-2: TMapiManager::Reinitialize: Creating new MAPI session.
