    Slow matching under 7.7?

Going to install it in VMWare to see if the matching problem is actually fixed. I'd rather not have to go through the nightmare of upgrading my live server again. I'll let you all know what happens.

    Slow matching under 7.7?

    I was also running 7.7.208 on 2003 R2 64bit.

    Slow matching under 7.7?

Heh, you must be one of the "20" customers out of millions tech support was talking about. :-) It's such a shame that 7.7 is so broken. We also thought about moving to Backup Exec, but it is such a different piece of software in the way that it works that I think our backup server would need significantly more disk space for the GFS approach. It's just not as friendly with backup to disk.

Pull the 7.7 update until it's fixed

I agree! Stop putting people through the disaster the rest of us have been through. Not cool.

    Updates on bugs?

Yeah, I got all excited when I saw 64bit and Windows 7 support, so we spent the money and upgraded since we've never had a problem with past upgrades. Big mistake. I just hope that other people read this message board before upgrading. Our backup server is back on 7.6 and working it's ass off right now pulling in 10TB of data. As you can see, everything started rebuilding at 11am today :-)

    Updates on bugs?

hahaha! We do appericiate your wining because we're having the same problems. Today I gave up with 7.7, moved what I had to tape, deleted everything and went back to 7.6. Maybe I'll be able to sleep tonight :-) Hopefully nobody needs a file from the last 3 weeks because rebuilding anything is going to be a damn mess.

    Slow matching under 7.7?

I just got off the phone with both tech support and our sales rep. Tech support was useless and didn't really seem to care. After questioning their QA process and telling them their product was inherently broken because of the matching issue, I was told that there are only about 20 customers out of millions with the matching issue. Somehow I find that hard to believe. I mean, a product with Mac and Linux support that can't handle more than 2 million files in a backup set? After getting off the phone with tech support, I decided to call our sales rep and had much better conversation. She listened to everything, seemed very concerned and said she'd find out what was going on. If you're in the same boat as I am, call your sales rep at EMC. I'll let you all know where I get with this.

    Slow matching under 7.7?

I'm in the same boat as all of you. I had one job that was matching for over 2 days after upgrading to 7.7 so I decided to place a call into tech support. Basically, I was told that I had to get my backup sets to have under 2-3 million files or this would happen. I mean, really? 7.6 didn't have this problem and I have several servers and a few workstations that have over 3 million files on them. Oh, and to make things worse, I decided to go back to 7.6 and realized that 7.6 won't see anything that was done in 7.7. At this point, I have a very broken backup server that's making me very nervous. Tomorrow, I'm going to call EMC back and give them hell on this because 7.7 is really, really broken.

    horrible speeds on 7.5

no, both the server and client are on the same versions. if i'm backing up using 7.0 i use a 7.0 client, if i'm backing up using 7.5 i use a 7.5 client.

    horrible speeds on 7.5

I got better speeds on the client and server on 7.0. Updating both the server and clients to 7.5 cut my speeds. To make sure it wasn't hardware, I went back to 7.0 and my speeds went back up so I know it's definetly a 7.5 problem. According to EMC support, we aren't the only ones having this problem. I was looking to see if anyone else in this forum is having the same issue.

    horrible speeds on 7.5

Already did that and it was much faster. It only seems to be a problem with 7.5.

    horrible speeds on 7.5

md5 makes no difference. i've had a ticket open with emc for a week and still haven't gotten to the bottom of it. just kind of wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.

    horrible speeds on 7.5

I'm very lucky to see 200MB/Min, most are between 80-170.

    horrible speeds on 7.5

Has anyone else seen a major performance drop since installing 7.5? We were previously getting about 400MB/min on our slowest servers to 700MB/min on our faster servers. Been on the phone with Dantz several times changing everything from MD5 to creating new config files and have had no luck.
