grooming did not free up enough space

It looks like I posted this 2 years ago. Unfortunately i still do not have a good solution. Right now I am using the backup set properties to save 10 snapshots which seems to keep things groomed well but i would like to use "groom to retrospect defined policy". This presumably saves snapshots according to a list of priorities and grooms lowest priority snapshots first. I like this idea but am unable to implement it. Whenever i select "groom to retrospect defined policy", grooming does not occur and when the media becomes full, it asks for new media. Does anyone see where i may be setting this up incorrectly or have another solution to use a policy for grooming snapshots rather than just the last 10? Thanks!
  2. The retrospect systray icon is not always loading This problem is previously explored in item 2 on http://forums.dantz.com/ubbthreads/printthread.php/Cat/0/Board/professional/main/52184/type/thread Has anyone found a solution?

grooming did not free up enough space

Thanks Mayoff. This looks like it will work. If I define the size of the back-up set and set grooming to retrospect default, should this not keep grooming automated? Or is there another way to make backups maintenance free? Thanks!

grooming did not free up enough space

There are 15 snapshots listed. i don't recall creating this snapshot list. What are snapshots? How are they created? Thanks!
  5. I have a script that runs automatically at night. Aparently i have something set up wrong though as I get this error now " Please select a new disk. It will be named '2-backup'. Backup was groomed but that did not free up enough space. (About 42k left to store) "Backup" is on a 300gb external hard drive. I would like the backup set to be large enough to fit all data but don't want to fill the whole hard drive. How should I set up this script to allow the backup set with a maximum size so that I dont get the message to create a new backup set. Thanks!
  6. Nate, I have some additional data on this issue. Recently my W2000 hard drive crashed. Thanks to Retrospect, i was able to recover all my data to a new hard drive. At the same time i upgraded my OS to WXP pro. Now that retrospect is running again, i still get the "didn't compare at offset 128" error. This time i googled the entire error which is: "....JPG": didn't compare at offset 128 in stream ":Q30lsldxJoudresxAaaqpcawXc:DATA"" MS support http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q319300 discusses this as a design of W2000 server which adds a data stream to some files. I tried to modify the registry key indicated, but it does not exist on the WXP machine. So i suspect that the error now is due to a remnant left by W2000 prior to my crash. Any thoughts how to address this?
  7. I use Microsoft photo editor mostly and use infranview for viewing and some minor editing.
  8. Just to throw in my comments .... We are seeing this with jpg files also

    Activity Monitor doesn't work

Hi Nate, The problem is 'Public Outlook' which is a tool to share pst with another user. If I shut this down, all works fine. Retrospect shuts down Outlook just fine. Is there a way that you can suggest to stop public outlook automatically before Retrospect runs? Thanks!

    Activity Monitor doesn't work

I recreated all of my scripts and other settings. A long process but activity monitor and outlook backup works fine again! BUT My pst file still won't copy. Still getting the -1111 error Any ideas?

    Activity Monitor doesn't work

Well I narrowed down at least part of the problem to config70.dat. I renamed this folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Retrospect and did a clean install of retrospect 7.0. Once the folder was re-created with fresh contents, Activity monitor works again! So I moved my logs from the renamed folder to the 'clean' folder. Still works fine. Unfortunately when I move the 'dirty' config70.dat into the 'clean' folder activity monitor stops working. So, since config70.dat contains my configuration and scripts, is there a way to recreate export the scripts and then inport them into the clean config70.dat? Hopefully this will also solve the -1111 error too. I will let you know.

    Activity Monitor doesn't work

The feature I like about Retrospect 7 is it's ability to close pst files automatically. Prior to getting Retro 7. I struggled long hours trying to develop script to close the pst and back-up my files. i was delighted when I found Retro 7! Then i updated the rdu.rpx file. The results described above were that my activity monitor stopped working and my outlook.pst shows the -1111 error. Interestingly though, when my retrospect script fires, it does close the outlook program but apparently not all of the other services tied to it. Again, before my update adventure, outlook copied/backed-up perfectly.

    Activity Monitor doesn't work

Hi Nate, The locked range error -1111 is for Outlook.pst. There are actually 3 pst files on two different volumes and controlled by two different scripts showing this error. Before the events above, both scripts worked well. Other errors are all sharing violations -1020 on a few dat, log and tmp files. lake
  15. Thanks RonaldL I don't think my errors were related to Roxio. They were random image files and were perfectly viewable. My solution, albeit a bit crude, was to delete the files. I didn't really need them and have not seen the error since (surprise??). This doesn't really fix the issue, but at least it is out of sight for now. FYI OS = W2k Pro Retrospect 7.0.326, update 7.0.9.103
