    OK, but the only backup files I had were the rdb files; no rbc files. This is why I had to repair the catalogues.

    I recently had to repair catalogues from rdb files. I could not use the catalogues until I repaired them. One cannot use rdb files to find backed up files or do a restore. My question is: Why does Retrospect create these files in the first place?
