    Retrospect Destroying CD's in set

I tried searching for this first. Retrospect is destroying CD's in our set. Actually, nothing gets burned, but Retrospect claims that it is burning the CD, but it never progresses. So, it never moves on to the next CD. I finagled with it a bit, and got it convinced that the current CD was gone (which took more than simply 'forget') and it moved on to the next CD. It burned one good CD and then on the following, went back to its old ways. I'm sure I need to give more info, can you please tell me what I to say to help me help you help me? Thanks.
  2. ok. pip got pip updated. will run scan disk tonight after hours. new problem. and i think connected. similiar problem. started a back up friday before leaving work, it actually got through 12 of our 19 employees. then it hit 'pam.' pam is running a 98 box. arrive monday morning, still working on pam (who only had about 700mb to back up; 100bt network on both ends and through). i am updating her client (and all the pc's for that matter) and will also run scan disk tonight on her as well. now, this is not a "no space on tape" issue, but on both her this time and pip last time, it appears that retrospect 6 has 'frozen.' spinning beachball. unresponsive for days. but, a quick visit to terminal shows that launchcfma is busy (doing what, i don't know, and using 70-80% of the cpu to boot). server is a 350mhz b&w g3 with 640mb of ram. ideas? thanks, dv

  4. latest version of retrospect for mac os x: 6.0.193 (i may not be good at much, but keeping mac software up-to-date is a forte) pip's xp client: 6.5.132
  5. i am having a similiar problem. i just recently went to a firewire tape drive (ait) from a scsi one (dat) which also increased my capacity per tape immensely. that's good. on the old tapes, we have one xp user. 'pip.' pip's pc would have about 200 errors each day. 99% of which were "-43 file/folder not found, yada yada..." (and another strange fact, almost all zip's pdf's and jpg's). but anyway, the bulk of pip would back up, and the files that didn't were client files we were backing up on cd anyway. now on the new tape set we have a new problem. monday night, pip's xp box is 6th in the list (of about 18). we manually had to stop the execution this morning. it had 16 errors so far. all of the same variety. that's over 30 hours by this point. he had roughly 850mb to back up (high, but acceptable) and it only had gotten through 150mb of this. both pip's client and the server are on a 100bt network. so, we need the problem resolved to that others may be backed up. or we could move pip to the bottom of the list. but i'd rather learn a fix than fudge a workaround. completely stumped. can anyone set me on the path to enlightenment?
  6. Hello there. I've tried searching for this, and I'm just not getting the words right or something. I know I can't be the first to encounter this. Anyway, I've got Retrospect 6 (Workgroup); just under 20 clients; hosted on a B&W G3 (350Mhz) with 640 MB of RAM. The jist is this: Retrospect is backing up everything every time. One of our guys ('Nick') has just under 40 GB on his drive, and Retrospect wants to back up all 40 GB each time. Nick's a busy guy, but he's not doing 40 GB of work in a day (even with heavy graphics, he's not doing 1 GB). Where do I begin? Where do I start for fixing this? -Thanks. dv
  7. "Trouble in Retrospect: Internal consistency check failed: Assertion check at "elem16.c-687"" I know this is slightly different than what others have posted here - any solutions? Thanks
