  1. I keep receiving error -557 on one of my clients (Windows 7 64 bit, client version 7.7.114). This is not the only client that I am having this error on, but this is a newly built client. I've run chkdsk on the client drive, no errors. Everything looks okay on the client, but continually having this error about 75G into a 150G backup. How can I turn on debug to show what specific file(s) Retrospect is having an issue with - if any? I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Retrospect Professional, and still the same issues. The server version is 7.7.620, running on Windows 7 64 bit, Any help greatly appreciated. -Stephen

iTunes files being backed up multiple times

BTW, this is with Retrospect Professional for Windows, Version 7.5.387, Driver Version 7.5.13.100
  3. I've got an issue with 7.5 Professional running under Vista. All was working fine when I was on XP, but now I'm getting multiple backups of my iTunes files in the same backup set. Here's the scenario: Recycle backup run on Sunday Normal backups run Monday-Saturday All of the iTunes files backup on Sunday fine. No changes to the files, but they will then start getting backed up again (as if they were changed) during the normal backups. Looking at the "Session Contents" logs, I see the file being backed up with the Recycle backup. I also see it in the Normal backup the following day, and looking at some of the file properties in the session contents, it clearly shows that it should NOT have been backed up. Here's a sample: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ RECYCLE BACKUP: Home.m4p Flags: Type: File Size: 3,684K total (3,734,148 bytes used) Location: I:\iTunes\Michael Buble\It's Time\ Created: Tuesday, January 08, 2008, 9:01:38 AM Modified: Saturday, July 15, 2006, 7:38:25 PM Accessed: Tuesday, January 08, 2008, 11:47:40 AM Backed Up: Thursday, January 24, 2008, 12:12:31 PM ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ NORMAL BACKUP: Home.m4p Flags: Type: File Size: 3,684K total (3,734,148 bytes used) Location: I:\iTunes\Michael Buble\It's Time\ Created: Tuesday, January 08, 2008, 9:01:38 AM Modified: Saturday, July 15, 2006, 7:38:25 PM Accessed: Tuesday, January 08, 2008, 11:47:40 AM Backed Up: Friday, January 25, 2008, 2:27:18 AM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, the question is: Why, if it's backed up and in the current backup set, is it getting backed up again? No change to the created, modified or even accessed times. This is killing my backup times and available backup space. -Stephen

    No email notifications!

Using Professional 6.5.343, and still can't get email notification to go out. I've finally tracked down the error that is coming from my SMTP server. Here's the info: 451 See http://pobox.com/~djb/docs/smtplf.html Here's the pertinent info on the error from that page: ------------------------------ It was generated by qmail, an Internet message transfer agent. Your mailer tried to send an e-mail message to a server running qmail. Unfortunately, qmail spotted a problem: your mailer sent a bare LF. You can't get mail through to msn.com and thousands of other systems around the Internet. Your mailer is violating 822bis section 2.3, which specifically prohibits all bare LFs. ------------------------------ SOOOOOO, the question is: What are the plans on fixing the mailer from Retrospect to support the spec and send Carriage Return/LineFeed instead of just bare LineFeed's?
