Have Retrospect 8 on Windows 2012 server with internal RD1000 drive. Trying to do a recycle backup to new blank cartridge. Retrospect says it is unrecognized media and I tell it to use it anyway. It starts the erase procedure, ejects the cartridge and then gives an error stating it reached the unexpected end of media. Am I not supposed to do a recycle backup if the cartridge is brand new? Has anyone run acrss this and do you have a fix? I'm trying to do this remotely after hours, so it's difficult to pop the cartridge back in. I'll have to wait until I get back to the client's office in the morning. Thanks

When you say "week 1 in drive", do you mean you kept the same tape in the drive all week? I was thinking more along the lines of changing the cartridge every day.

Hi, We have a new Windows 2012 R2 server with a Dell RD1000 drive that came with Retrospect 8.1. Client wants to do a 3 month rotation (she needs to keep the last 3 full monthly backups in reserve) and likes swapping cartridges daily. She also wants to alternate storing a Full weekly backup off-site. I have tried wrapping my head around all the different backup strategies and schedules, but am having a difficult time coming up with a solid plan. Can someone give me strategy to accomplish this? Thanks.
