I have a Mac mini 2014 as retrospect server with V18.2 and MacOS 11.6.1 and the Client is a MacPro 2013 with Retrospect 18.2 and MacOS 11.6.2. On the Retrospect Server the drives are connected through globalSAN® iSCSI Initiator and the client have ATTO iSCSI initiator and they are connected to a Synology DS1618+ with DSM7 I have the following error and really don't know what this is about ? Can you help ? I have the desktop version, but if I only can set it to "1" why does it work when i modify it to be "6" ?

Hi, I have Retrospect Version 13.0.1 (106) on my Mac-mini serveur and when ever I restart the service or reboot the number of threads are rest to "1". Mikael

Hi, I have upgraded from 9 to 11.5.1 and have the following warning, there is always one file left to be backuped ? The only way to have this removed is to recycle the media set and there is no warning messages. Any suggestion ? I have uppgraded the server to version 10.5 with clients on v 9.0.2 and I still have the slow speed about 20-30mb/min when restoring. ì will keep the v9 on boths sides until I have uppgraded the stripe set. /mikael

Yes I'm using AFP for the NAS connection. In between I have backgraded to 9.02 (107) and I have now correct speed (around 1,6gb/min) when restoring the stripeset I will go back to 10.5 only on server and se what this is going to do.

I am restoring from disk. (Synology NAS 409+) I'm using AppleRAID V2.0 so i believe it has the write cache enabled. I have selected the first backup from the media set for this volume /Mikael

Hi, I have uppgraded to v10.5.0 (145) (i have a macpro 2008 with Mac OSX 10.7.5) recently and it has been going well. Im about to change the disks of my stripe set and I wanted to test a restore operation before doing this. I took one directory to restore 121 gb of data. When restore started It reported it will take 96 hours to do !!! When looking the speed of restroing it is around 21-30Mb/min ? This stripe set is capable of 2.1 - 2.3Gb/min ... If I would translate to replacing the entire disk it would take 1500 hours... (this woild not be possible) Any ideas ??? Mikael

When doing backups the catalog is not updated. If your not aware of this, then doing restore would lead you to think backups where not done. You have to recover the backups done in the catalog before any attempt to do a restore! I did erase a directory by error and when I tried to restore it I got the message “erreur -1101, file/directory not found » when I tried a second time all files and sub-directories where subsequently restored (it seems that the 1’st directory has to be created and the other ones are correctly restored) This is valid for Mac OSX and Windows 7 system I moved a directory up one level and the backup did save the file in its new location, however when wanting to a restore a file it never did it. It claimed that there where no files to restore (even though I select the file and it was present in the backup) I have noticed that several files are selected for backup and they have not been modified in any way. (This has happened twice where files of images that are very old and have not received any modifications) What mechanism are you using for detecting file/directory changes? I have used threads to differentiate my backups, allowing the server to use 3 threads at a time. When I did an upgrade of Mac OSX and rebooted the system my setup where completely lost. It all came back to one thread and all the backups where set to the 1 thread only! I’m using growl for my message alert, Retrospect 10 has no information of what script is running! It would be nice to have it as seen in Retrospect 9 When backup a Windows 7 64bit system you get a lot of errors when doing backup of the directory “C:\Windows\Temp”. Should this directory be added by default on the Privacy tab. When you are in the section backups done, you can recover the job information only once! You can select the jobs you want to recover but the button is faded out and it’s impossible. The only way is to restart the Retrospect application. I don’t feel comfortable with the quality of Retrospect 10, it looks like there are issues that should have been corrected. In fact I have decided to downgrade back to Retrospect 9 and will wait for some time before upgrading. /mikael

In my case I dont have grooming. When looking through all the other media sets I discovered that it was true for all of them ! Can you program the recovery function to be done on a regular basis ? Mikael

Hi, I have tryed to restore a file and it didnt work. When looking at the media set i realised that the list of backups where incomplete. (quite a number of them where missing) When I recovered the missing backups with the recovery button I managed to restore the file. Does this have an impact on the backup or its it only concerning the restore ? Why isnt the list of backups complete in the media set ? /Mikael
