  1. I would like to remove all files from a client no longer used from a backset and/ or specific folders from a client to free up disk space. Unfortunately I have not found how I could so such a removal.
  2. Hello All, thank you for the responses and the support. I found the cause for not being able to send emails. McAffee Anti Virus Enterprise 8 offers the ability to block certain ports under certain circumstances. This was apparantely recently enabled. While applications like Outlook etc are allowed, Retrospect is blocked. Disabling Mc Affee allows sending of the emails. I do apologize for not checking the Anti Virus logs earlier and again thank you for the help. Regards, User DE
  3. Hello, again thank you for the response from all. Here are the results: - Keeping the described settings and changing the logging level to 7: soctPreDispose: maximum queue depth was 0 soctSetThread: socket thread now 0x338 SMTP: opening addr 213.165.64.20 smtpOpen: connecting using port 19.202 soccOpen: socket send buffer size is 65.536 soccOpen: socket recv buffer size is 65.536 soccOpen: connect() failed with error 10061 smtpOpen: connection failed using port 19.202, trying port 6.400 soccOpen: socket send buffer size is 65.536 soccOpen: socket recv buffer size is 65.536 soccOpen: connect() failed with error 10061 smtpOpen: connection failed using port 6.400 smtpSend: "QUIT" soctPreDispose: maximum queue depth was 0 - Changing the name of the mail server to its IP address listed above: soctSetThread: socket thread now 0x338 SMTP: opening addr 213.165.64.20 smtpOpen: connecting using port 54.528 soccOpen: socket send buffer size is 65.536 soccOpen: socket recv buffer size is 65.536 soccCallback: kNetSelectorConnect failed, error 10060 smtpOpen: connection failed using port 54.528 smtpSend: "QUIT" soctPreDispose: maximum queue depth was 1 Thus the problem to me seems to be that Retrospect is not using port 25. Question: Is there any way I can specify Retrospect to use port 25 to connect to the smtp server? Regards, User DE
  4. Hello, thank you for the quick response. The computer with 7.7 professional can both ping the smtp server as well as send emails using outlook. Note the smtp server resides in the internet and not in the local network. Could it be that: - Only smtp servers in the intranet or subnet are supported? or - Professional does not support email notifications? Thank you and regards User DE
  5. Hello, if under preferences -> notification -> email an email account is defined and the button 'Send Test E-Mail' is clicked I receive an error message 'Email notification failed: error -535 ( backup client: network unavailable)'. The email account settings are definately correct and according to the online knowledge base a different error would show if these were not correct. All clients defined work and removing all clients does not solve the problem either. Help would be highly appreciated. Regards, User DE
  6. Hello, in version 7.7 professional there is a new checkbox labeled 'Enable Wake-on-LAN' on the Client -> Properties -> General tab. This is not documented in the 7.5 manual or the 7.7 release notes. Does anybody know what this checkbox does? It does not enable Wake-on-lan on the client. Thank you User DE
  7. Hello, Not sure but consider the following: - Does client on 7.5 work with backup computer on 7.7? Try installing the client which came with 7.7 or check the manual. - Does remote desktop from backup to client work; if not your problem is possibly outside of Retrospect. Regards User DE
  8. I am using v 7.7.203; open file backup works if the files reside on the machine Retrospect is running on; however if the files reside on a UNC path (e.g. \\PX_XYZ\c$) open file backup does not work. Question: Is this intended behaviour or an issue which can be fixed somehow? I am assuming that open file back is intended only to work on the machine retrospect is running on. Note: I am not using the clients feature.
