  1. Already been talking to support. They walked me thru the garbled screens. This is actually for Windows on a MacBook Pro (a "Boot camp" partition). Turns out Dantz doesn't support Disaster Recovery on Apple hardware - too bad I didn't know about that ahead of time. Looks like I'll be reformatting & reinstalling everything manually - what a PITA. Looks like also I'll be changing what backup software I use...
  2. I am in the process of attempting to perform a disaster recovery (latest and greatest R 17.5.2.103) on my laptop with a high DPI screen, and when I boot from the WinPE disk, the text is garbled or only partially displayed - it looks like the screen is corrupted. I added in my laptop's drivers before creating the recovery disk, but that didn't help. There's really no excuse for lack of high DPI screen support in 2021 - any idea for a workaround so I can get my PC back up and running?
  3. It's been a minute here, but I wanted to wrap things up - in the intervening time since my original post I both moved, and upgraded R Desktop to the latest version (16.6.0). Whatever happened in here seems to have worked - my macOS client is again up and running. Until next time...
  4. Environment: Retrospect Desktop 16.5.1.109 on W10 Pro 1909 x64. Client: macOS 10.14.6, Client version 16.5.1.104. My last successful backup of this client was a week ago - not sure what has changed in the meantime. In R Desktop, when I go to Configure -> Clients -> <mac client> -> General Tab -> click 'Refresh', I get the error Sorry, couldn't connect to <client name>, error -505 (backup client reserved.) And the Properties dialog is very unhappy and keeps giving me that error. I tried reinstalling the client on the Mac, and that succeeded (seemingly), and I go back to the client properties in R Desktop and click Refresh, all is good. But the Retrospect client is still seemingly locked in On(?) mode yet the On/Off toggle is greyed out, and there is a warning triangle to the left of the On/Off toggle, which says "Disabled by administrator" if you mouse over it. (The client is not disabled in the General tab in Retrospect Desktop.) If I go through the tabs in the client Properties window, all is good, but if I go the Volumes tab, the dialog hangs, I have to cancel to get out of it, and we are back to everything resulting in the -505 backup client reserved error. What do I need to do to get this fixed?
  5. David, your condescending comments aren't needed here. Martin (and others, myself included) are frustrated at this slowness, and a little venting is not out of order. I don't understand why you feel the need to carry water for Dantz - if you don't have anything positive to contribute, you aren't required to post.
  6. No, you're not the only one. Came here, searching for info on this problem. It is very frustrating! The first scan on my MBP (10.13.6), accessed from Retrospect Desktop 15.6.1.104 (W10), took 14 hours. I will have to try turning ISA off. Looking forward to a real solution...
  7. Thanks for the suggestion, but that hasn't worked either.
  8. Scillonian, thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, on the Mac client (6.3.029), the only way to specify "Private Folder/File" is by pre- or appending the bullet character ("•") to the file/dir name. And since this is in /System/, it's off-limits to rename - that is sure to break things. I guess I'll have to experiment more.
  9. [R Single Server 7.7.620 on Windows Server 2003 Std SP2] I am having trouble specifying excluding a Mac OS X (10.9) directory in my Proactive Backup script. I want to exclude /System/Library/Caches/ (and everything beneath it), but I haven't figured out the correct Condition which works. I've tried a (Mac OS) path as above and also as "My Volume:System:Library:Caches:" (without the quotes), but to no avail. Any suggestions as to how to specify the correct path? (Yes, I realize this is setup is ancient, but what can I say - it works.)
  10. Too late to do a repair - I've already blown away the orig catalog file. I will keep trying and cross my fingers that I don't need it...
  11. Running Retrospect Single Server 7.7.620 on Win Server 2003 Standard SP2 x32. I got an error during a scheduled backup set grooming about the catalog file being damaged, so I went to recreate it. Now, 24 hours later, I get the error, "Backup Set format inconsistency (6 at 695069483)". I have done this 2 times now, but I can't complete the catalog file rebuild. Is there any hope for recoving this backup set? Attached is a screen shot of the log. Thanks for any pointers!
  12. I am having the same problem here. I really hope I don't lose my whole backup set because of this! The rebuild takes 25 hours before it fails, so it's costly to test. Any one have any success with this? My env: Retrospect Single Server 7.7.620 Windows Server 2003 x32 SP2, 4GB RAM -Conrad
  13. I am running Retrospect Single Server 7.7.341 x64 on Windows Server 2008 Std x64 SP2. I am planning to upgrade the OS to Server 2008 R2. Are there any concerns/issues I should know about when upgrading wrt Retrospect? Thanks for any input.
  14. I was shown that KB article by tech support. Already following all recommendations and requirements.
