rProblem restoring Outlook 2007 pst

I have been using EMC Retrospect Express HD backup software for about year to backup up all files on my pc including Outlook 2007. I recently reformatted my harddrive. And restored all backed up files including Outlook pst files. My restored files are missing some emails, all calendar entries and all contacts. I thought I'd be able to restore my outlook files using Retrospect. When I read Outlook documentation, it seems to imply that Outlook files should be backed up and restored using Outlook backup functions. Is that correct? How can I recover my missing files? Any help would be appreciated.
