LTO4 Backup not filling up tapes

I recently had my HP Ultrium Gen 5 Drive serviced.  I had a tape that broke while in the drive and unfortunately some of the tape medium was wrapped inside.  It was repaired and tested and I recently put the drive back into the library/loader.

When I run an LTO4 backup now.  It only seems to transfer about 30 Gb of data to the tape before asking for another tape.   This is a new tape set that I have created for the purpose of testing out the drive.  I am trying to troubleshoot on my end while I wait on word back from the repair facility.  I am making backup sets exactly the same as I had previously.   Attached are  a few SS if it helps at all.  I have tried different source drives on the backup with varying file size/types.  I think my next step will be to swap out the actual tape, maybe there is a slim chance that a new tape is defective.

Any thoughts on what else to check?

This problem has surfaced again. Last time it was indeed a drive error.  This time it is not.  My drive just came back from manual cleaning and they did full tape tests on the drive and all passed.  I have ordered new SaS cables.

Any chance that this could be caused by permissions errors on the OSX drive?  I have some permissions that pop up as incorrect and they will not repair.

Here are the errors in my logs.

The error message makes it pretty clear that there's a problem with the tape drive or somewhere in the SAS chain (cable or HBA card).

I'm not sure what that message about the storage device not being licensed, though; I've never seen that. Is this the same tape drive you were previously using? Has that message ever appeared before?

Same drive and loader has been used for years now.  That message about being unlicensed happens every time.  Not sure what it refers to honestly.  Software is licensed and the whole unit was purchased new years ago.

I am leaning towards the card maybe being faulty, but not sure how to test it.

Maybe I am making an incorrect assumption, but if the cable was faulty, would it be able to write any data?  This log wrote 266GB of data, I ran a new backup/test last night and it got through 129 Gb before kicking back the EOT marker.  Both were done using the same source hard drive.

Any process to go about troubleshooting?

I would contact the manufacturer of your HBA card. Based on the error messages, though, I would bet on the tape drive being at fault. We haven't had a whole lot of luck with repairing our tape drives, and have often needed to send them back two or three times to the drive rebuilder even after they assured us the drive was performing up to specs.
