m3rls
Hello there, We've recently upgraded our PDC & Exchange servers; both Windows & Exchange are version 2003 standard. While trying to do a backup of our mail server (The user selected in Retrospect's preferences is the domain admin, if that matters), I receive the following error. The mailboxes backup and verify fine, as does the Information Store. "SMC" is our domain name, but as far as I know, there aren't any folders called "SMC" on that server, there are a few files used by IIS for a local SSL certificate, but I can't see how they would have permission issues? Anyway, the error is as follows: Code: - 8/11/2005 6:30:00 PM: Copying Local Disk (C:) on smc-svrexc 8/11/2005 6:30:00 PM: Connected to smc-svrexc Component "SMC" backup failed, error -1017 (insufficient permissions). 8/11/2005 6:52:15 PM: Snapshot stored, 39.8 MB 8/11/2005 6:52:22 PM: Comparing Local Disk (C:) on smc-svrexc 8/11/2005 7:02:50 PM: 1 execution errors Completed: 15661 files, 2.6 GB, with 48% compression Performance: 184.4 MB/minute (146.9 copy, 247.5 compare) Duration: 00:32:50 (00:04:54 idle/loading/preparing) I used to have this running with Exchange 5.5 on Windows 2000 Adv. Server, and to do that I had a RBU account setup, but I am unsure if it's neccessary to do that for win2k3/exc2k3. Any help/ideas would be very much appreciated! Thanks, Andrew Edit: Added code tags around the error.
natew
Hi You still need to have an RBU setup. The Retrospect manual has details on what group memberships are required for the RBU. Thanks Nate
